To Become Indispensable

Yesterday, I was giving a pep talk to my managers:
“The key to succeed in anything is to become indispensable.”

Indispensable? All have a puzzled face.

“Ok, let me explain it to you” I said
“If you leave the company today, would it matter to us, would it affect our operation?
Do you feel that at work, at home, in your life, you are doing your best?
If you disappear today, would anybody miss you?
That is exactly what I meant by becoming indispensable.”

Indispensable is to be absolutely necessary; it is to be essential, is to be vital, crucial, and required. To be indispensable is to be irreplaceable, to become priceless!

For sure, the answer is NO.

So, here is my thought:

If you want people to depend on you, to trust and have confidence in you, you are going to have to start making some real changes in your life. You need to make a conscious effort to make yourself indispensable. If you plan and focus, you will see how easy it is to turnaround your life.

First, you need to stay positive; attitude, the right attitude is the key. Acknowledge and respect people around you, make them feel good; all will stay around positive people.

Set yourself to a higher standard, always do more than what you are required to do and always do it right!

Be honest and if you make a mistake, accept it and try to find a solution; do not blame your mistakes to others. Understand and learn from your failures and move forward.

Be open, accept criticism and be willing to adapt, to adjust quickly.

Be different than the rest, become unique. Focus and stand out from the rest; master on an expertise that no one else has. Be innovative and figure out how to solve problems, how to find solutions.

Share your knowledge, share your know-how and people will listen and follow you.

Last and the most important, love your family and take care of your friends; all want you to succeed and all trust you!

Keep in mind: To become indispensible, first, you need to be committed to yourself and success; then, dedicated to your family, to your friends, and to your company.
At the end, it always begins with you, only you!

This is very inspiring and something to keep in mind, it is already saved so I can read it whenever needed.
I've been going through rough moment in life, and this was everything I had to know.
Crazy how hard it is to accept that you need to change because who you are is not enough and not acceptable. Sometimes all we wish is to be indispensable just by being there, and for most of us it is impossible without changes. I told myself I should accept my flaws because they were not removable pieces that I could pull off every time it bothered someone. I guess I should play along with life and not be so comprehensive as I tend to be with my imperfections.
Anyway, thank you. Great article.

The concept of being indispensable is key to not only success but happiness. In our work we must go the extra mile. What can I do today that will improve my results? If I was the owner of this business what would I like to see? This also applies to our personal life and relationships. We must view our circle and look at the center instead of viewing from the center to the outside rim of the circle.

Who I am today as a person is largely due to my failures!
Failures are the speed bumps in life that matter!  They are not regrets but small disappointments that wake up the strength within us! Failures are the process of learning and improving!  Without failures we simply are at a status quo!

"success is built on many failures..."
