Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting a lady that has dedicated her life, more than 40 years, to provide security and hope to young adults.
Deborah Shore is the founder of the Sasha Bruce Youthwork, one of the largest and most experienced providers of services to youth in Washington, DC. They help young people to find safe homes, achieve and maintain mental and physical health, and most importantly creating a stable environment.
Debby invited me to visit the organization, where I had the chance to meet 2 incredible young ladies. Both girls arrived to the organization seeking help in finding a place that they could call home.
While talking to them, I could feel my spirit lifting and charging with a pleasant energy. Although both have gone through devastating situations, they were not here to complain. They were here to tell us about their future. They were hopeful and excited about life; both have dreams and plans to succeed. They were just grateful!
I take my hat off to Debby and the people that work with her and especially to all the young people, that for decades have passed trough Sasha’s doors seeking a better future.
- So, here is my thought:
All a kid needs is a person:
A person to talk to
a person that listens,
a person that believes in them…
a person to give them hope!
Can you become that person?
Who I am today as a person is largely due to my failures!
